All we have is that there were certain times in pre-Christian Greece (and Rome) when LGBT were accepted, and they were open about it. A lot of 'Ancient Greece' (a vast 2500-year period that changed a lot every few hundred years) is blown out of proportion, both by conservative homophobes and by 'progressive' passive homophobes (like 'liberals' that are passive-racists).
